2010 Sponsorship Opportunities! Don't be left out next year! Opportunities are always available for your business to join our team of first-class sponsors. Your sponsorship, which helps keep the cost of participation down for our seven football and cheerleading squads, is fully tax-deductible and is a great way to gain wider exposure throughout Coral Springs and the AYFL's other Broward and Palm Beach communities while supporting area kids. If you sponsor, and you have a child in the program, the donation you give replaces the normal $40.00 fundraiser that is required each year as part of your player registration. For sponsorship information, please contact: Forest Bates via email. |

The 110lb Coral Springs Chargers brought PPO's two-year 26 game winning streak to an abrupt end on Saturday, winning the 2009 AYFL Super Bowl 18-13, and qualifying for the Generation Nexxt State Championships.
As the Chargers and Bengals probed each other's defenses for weaknesses, the first quarter was scoreless, thanks to Kalen Carson's TD-saving tackle following a PPO pass deep down the right sideline. Things heated up in the second quarter as PPO drove the ball down the field, only to be stopped in their tracks at the CS 12 yard line by a stiffened CS defense. After PPO turned the ball over on downs, the Chargers marched the ball back down the field, and scored on a Kalen Carson touchdown with 4 seconds remaining in the half. The PAT was wide right, making the halftime score Chargers 6, PPO 0. Great halftime adjustments by PPO resulted in an 80 yard, 7 minute drive capped off by a touchdown with 1:34 remaining in the third quarter. A successful running PAT made the score CS 6, PPO 7. PPO stopped the Chargers offense and scored again with 6:01 remaining in the 3rd quarter, this time missing the extra point. With the score 13-6 PPO, it was to be PPO's final score of the season. With 6 minutes left in the game and needing a touchdown and 2 point conversion to win, the Chargers drove down the field again. Nearing the end zone, a Ro Farris end-around got the Chargers down to the 4 yard line, and Jordan Willis put 6 on the board with a quarterback keeper through the heart of the PPO defense. With the score 13-12 PPO, the Chargers lined up to kick the 2 point PAT conversion to put the game on ice, but were unable to convert. With 3:16 left in the game, and PPO set to get the ball back on the kickoff, the Chargers season appeared to be over. On the kickoff, Connor Hicks kicked a high, short ball with plenty of backspin. The PPO returner made no attempt to catch the ball, expecting it to bounce into his hands. Instead, the backspin caused the ball to bounce backwards straight into the arms of Kyshaun Bryan, who had made great time getting down the field, setting the Chargers offense up on the PPO 45 yard line. Willis, who had been knocked out of the game earlier in the 4th quarter by a vicious hit delivered as he was completing a 15 yard pass to Ro Farris on the left sideline, took another big hit and had to leave the field. Backup quarterback Owen Minott stepped in and proceeded to deliver two big passes, one down the left side to Ro Farris and a second down the right side to Keyshaun Bryan, moving the Chargers into striking distance. With 4 seconds left and no timeouts remaining, and the Chargers offense on the PPO 2 yard line, Coach Carson opted to set up for the field goal attempt, and PPO called a timeout to shift their defense to a kick blocking scheme. The Chargers then ran the ball in through the kick defense, scoring the winning touchdown on Jordan Willis's second quarterback keeper of the day. The PAT was no good. The Chargers recovered their own kickoff as time expired, winning the Super Bowl 18-13. The 110 Chargers now advance to State Championship competition.
